blazewind_82 - assuptions of others.... Human nature?
|
| Why is it that we, as human beings, tend to get into our minds, very specific ideas about each other. For the most part, these ideas, might in my opinion, be extremely undeserved. Not to mention, of course, a closed minded waste of brain capacity. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I am over bothered by this fact of our lives. I merely find it to be a great curiosity. People, it seems commonly get these ideas into our heads about everything from another persons, chance and finding love, to the kind of car they likely own. It seems that even our taste in music is set in stone, in the minds of our peers, and of society in general. As it so happens, I seem to strike most people as either a completely shy nerd, who always has her nose in a book, never makes friends, or talks to others, learns a much of useless information because I can, and would never do anything, “nonconformist,”… or as nothing more than dumb as a post, helpless, and naive beyond the realm of common imagination.
Well since the fact of the matter is that I am not quite either of those combinations of people, but instead somewhere between, with a whole lot more thrown in, yet people don’t seem to realize that; I would have to deduce that many other people in the world of today, (and probably every other period in history,) has faced the same annoyance. For myself personally though, some of what is commonly assumed about me is indeed true. I do not happen to be a home owner, I have a large collection of books, I try to always help a person in need when I can, I have no children. All these little random things, which may or may not be important, do prove correct. It is however the little details that will never, in a million years, be of consequence, that I have heard people make wrong assumptions about commonly. For example… why the heck do so many people assume I don’t know, let along enjoy any music that one would consider to be rock? Why is it thought commonly that I don’t play any kind of video games? I am thinking that it’s time humanity began to put less stress on how each person appears, when making a guess as to who they are. Just because something looks out of place on, or about the person in question, does not automatically make it a wrong observation. We are a very diverse race of unique people. It seems to me that we actually tend to forget just how diverse the human species is. | comments: Leave a comment |
